Tell Minister Joly to stand up for Palestinian civil society

The Israeli government recently designated six leading Palestinian human rights groups as “terrorist organizations”. To echo Palestinian activist Mohammed El-Kurd’s assessment: “This is a clear declaration of war against Palestinian civil society.” These organizations are targeted because the work they do challenges Israel’s apartheid regime – from protecting children & producing research, to supporting political prisoners, women, and farmers.

Since Israel took this decision on October 22nd, there has been absolutely no response from the Canadian government. With a new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, now appointed, it’s time the government breaks its silence.

IJV proudly supports the work of these six organizations, and joins them in today’s global day of action to protect Palestinian civil society organizations and human rights defenders.

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Call or email Minister Joly’s office today demanding that she immediately condemn Israel’s decision to designate these six important Palestinian groups as “terrorist organizations”.
  2. Join today’s day of action including #StandWithThe6 social media storm at 1pm Eastern, 10am Pacific! Social media toolkit here
  3. Sign this letter to the Prime Minister.
